Ryan - While I agree that it would probably make a great merger or venture, I seriously doubt it will ever happen. IMHO, those are two very different marketplaces with very different shoppers. While I also shop both platforms, I do so for different reasons. I agree that Amazon layout and user experience is far better than Ebay, yet I can still find better deals and pricing on Ebay for the same items (comparing apples to apples). Now, it takes me longer and and substantially more work, but I can usually save a fair amount of money. In my case, Amazon shopping is a matter of speed and convenience. I use amazon in cases where I'd rather move quickly versus most cost effectively (although your time is certainly worth something as well). One of best friends shops exclusively on Amazon due to it's simplicity and speed of purchase. He feels that his time is better spent doing more productive things than trying to find a better deal on Ebay. I can see both sides of the issue.

which would in turn open eBay’s marketplace up to millions of new buyers… listings would then generate more traffic, fetch higher prices and have higher margins because eBay wouldn’t need to spend as much buying traffic through Google and other sources.

If Amazon can improve eBay’s finding experience by (hypothetically) N%, you could argue that the marketplace improves by 2N or 3N% because buyers find products on eBay (rather than departing for other merchants), find better values and are more likely to return.

Amazon/eBay would be a formidable combination with their gigantic revenue and market cap combined. Plus, with the combined talent of Jeff Bezos and Meg Whitman, the combined company would have dream management team and would be ready to take on the Google juggernaut head-on.

Anybody could own a web site. Anybody could up sell their own products and services to their target audience. Anyone could try to promote their web site with a low cost. But there are not many web sites that have a truly successful web site with traffic all day through. What these individuals or companies lack is the most essential factor of success – a low cost web site promotion that really works.

www.freemillionairemakerdvd.com/go
